Illam children show great progress in academic achievements

After the completion of their exams on April 25th 2023, most children returned to their homes. About 20 children stayed in the Illam as they did not have other options.  A summer camp was organized for the children staying on.

One of the Year 12 girls attended the ZOHO Admission Test in April 2023. ZOHO is a large IT firm and students who enter the centre get to study for free and are assured of a placement in the firm. She narrowly missed the chance of getting admission into the Centre but has gained much confidence by attending the test, and she has also been encouraging the younger children to appear for ZOHO Admission from next year onwards.

The local government school reopened on 14 June 2023 for our Illam children. We bought new school uniforms for the academic year for all illam children and purchased 20 new school bags for the children with the support of Mr. Mohan, a local philanthropist. We have also bought stainless steel water bottles (1 litre) for all our children.  Now they carry a water bottle to school along with their school bags. The purchase of water bottles was supported by the Kalanjiam federations in Andhra Pradesh.

During this year when the schools were re-opened three of our children who studied 10th last year had been awarded with a merit shield from their schools. They got first, second and third place in their class in year 10 public exams. The children felt very proud of it. Now they are studying Year 11 in the same school.

Secondary School Course (SSLC) results were published on 19 May 2023. Ten children appeared for the public examinations and all of them got pass marks. We have achieved 100% results in the 10th exams after shifting our children to the Government school.
