Illam children go on an educational excursion! Oct 2023

Our Illam children went on a local heritage and cultural sites outing in October. They visited the famous Keelady village (near Madurai) where excavations over the last decade have shown the existence of early urban civilization and the Tamil-Brahmi script dated to 6^th century B.C. After visiting the excavations site and a nearby museum newly opened, they stopped at the Aiyyanar temple. Aiyyanar is a local deity protecting villages usually seen as a warrior mounted on stucco horses. A team of volunteers from ASIE France were visiting the Illam at this time and accompanied the children.
