Illam student has timely surgery
Haris joined the Illam in 2019 recommended by one of the Kalanjiyams (self-help groups). In January he became ill and was referred to the government hospital in Madurai where he was diagnosed with a hole in his heart. As luck would have it, a free medical camp for children with heart ailments was run by a philanthropic organisation at the same time. As a result, DHAN took the decision to send Haris to the private hospital of that organisation in Kochi, Kerala state.
Anbu and Prema (Illam staff and trained nurse through Hill scholarship) accompanied Haris. Haris was operated upon for an open heart surgery involving several specialists and has now recovered and taken back to the Illam on 26th February. Haris was fortunate to get excellent care at the right time!
